Now that is something admirable, understanding the way Sino people from inner Asia treat their women.

Nineveh from the Merlin legends she was thoughtful, learned, and loved by Merlin or Myrddinn to give him his correct old British name, and he loved her for who she was and not what she looked like.

When I was a teenager I wanted to be Eowyn. Not only because she was reasonably good at pretending to be a man; yet managed to destroy the enemy and avenge her uncle as a woman ... well, maybe that was about it.

For a while I identified with Captain Signy Mallory of Downbelow Station, but then I actually read the book and decided that she wasn't it.

Now I just work on being me.

God, this reminds me of just how beautiful the Hildebrandt brothers paintings are. Sorry.

Two very good choices, Lynette! (but how did you know about Signy Mallory before you read the book?)

Mine is rather obscure- Rosalind Hawkins from The Fire Rose by Mercedes Lackey.

From the song:

Captain Signy Mallory has no soul, they say.
The captain of the Norway has a heart of frozen clay.
When, on the bridge of the Norway, she throws men's lives like dice,
Captain Signy Mallory, her eyes are fire and ice.

Oh, look! There goes Lynette to Abebooks.com ...
