They aren't who'd I'd aspire to be, but here are two fictional characters I identify with:

Princess Fiona

and Daria

His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"
Jesus answered, "Neither he nor his parents sinned; it is so that the works of God might be made visible through him. "
John 9:2-3

Mahatma Ghandi, though a devout Hindu, was widely known to admire Jesus; Ghandi often quoted from the Sermon on the Mount, in fact. Once when the missionary E. Stanley Jones met with Ghandi he asked him, "Mr. Ghandi, though you quote the words of Christ often, why is that you appear to so adamantly reject becoming his follower?"
Ghandi replied, "Oh, I don't reject your Christ. I love your Christ. It's just that so many of you Christians are so unlike your Christ."

I'm partial to Scheherezade, myself. Tale-spinner of the Arabian nights, and clever, clever opponent against her murderous husband. Then again, it might be fun to be Dunyazad, her little sister. After all, she got to listen to all those wonderful stories first-hand. I also like Portia in The Merchant of Venice, who manages to outwit everyone with a fair amount of eloquence. Plus, she crossdresses. Woot!

I don't really identify with a woman of legend, but certainly I've identified with many in fiction. Friday (Robert Heinlein) is perhaps the most appropriate fictional woman with whom I identify.

There's also an image - below - with which I really identify, I suppose that's fiction too. It's as if I were trapped in my tower; I see the whole world out there, see myself as I truly ought to be, but know how I'm trapped in my body. I think this image captures the essence of my being, my struggle. Plus I think it's lovely, I adore all of Melanie Delon's work.

I am so happy to not be the only one who chose Friday...

... 'cause kettle belly would be really disappointed.

Oh hell, hon -- no stealing at all! LOL

Seriously -- I thought for a while there I was the only one that had ever read it!

Curious, though -- what did you think of the s-family (and not so much the bitch that was the head of it), and don't ya just love the way she's totally stressing something and yet still just goes and does it?

(I'm a R.A.H. geek, its terrible, and right after her is Maureen. One day I will get a pixel of my own...)

My choice seems so boring compared to everyone else's.

Joan Wilder from Romancing the Stone.

I would paste a picture, but I am way too backwards at this stuff.

Nice question! I would have to say Vivianne from the Mists of Avilon, great book, and she was so very strong.
