Thank you Deena. I love that song, and I don't sing it myself too badly.

Yeah, I know, I'm old-fashioned. I like melody much more than rythm, after all classical and Baroque are my first loves.

Although I also enjoy some of the more, hmm... rythmical tunes posted here. Musically, I have the tastes of a Christian fundie, haha.

Put your hand in the hand
of the man who stilled the water...
put your hand in the hand
of the man who calmed the seas...

I love that song!

And for the sake of multiculturalism, here one of the most traditional Andean dances, Valicha (it's a courtship dance, which means that each move is pre-determined, there's no room for randomness or improvisation; in this one the dancers make a few mistakes--it's supposed to be flawless):

That's about as Peruvian as you can get. The genre is "huayno" (there are about half a dozen Andean genres of music).

It was hard to hear the Cherango in taht piece but the pitch and rythm were unmistakable. Thanks for posting it. Here's one for you. A bit nostalgic. P P & M did this one before 1970 but here is Gordon's take on it. Lovng Me!

And for you Misty!! There are several - in fact many recordings of this song. This is one of the first. Others feature duets with such singers as Johnny Cash - rest his soul. I hope it doesn't rain dear!!
