As a teen I was a huge fan of Nina Hagen. If I learned some German vocabulary, was to sing along with her (it helped me a lot when I had to learn English a few years after). Anyway, one of the greatest songs by Nina is Zarah, a tribute to the Swedish "femme fatale" Zarah Leander, who was a movie star in Germany during the Nazi years.
The song completely changes from typical 30s stuff to 70s kitsch by the middle. It's quite hallucinating, and very original for the year when it was recorded (93, if I'm correct).
Ich weiss es wird einmal ein Wunder geschehen Und dann werden tausend Märchen war...

Here's one of the songs that helped pull me thru my most recent "meltdown" (New enough to still be dealing with major self doubt, not yet in therapy, so D'I'Y help)
