For someplace as an alternative to the costal cities out West, Spokane is becoming a nice alternative. It's big enough to have everything you need, and small enough that no one has thought of "where's Waldo?" yet. They were incredibly aggressive couting large companies to open business centers in town, so the influx of educated newcomers has toned down the tradtional conservative nature of that town.
It's about 2.5 hours from where I live. I couldn't find an endo that would see me within 100 miles of home, but I've got my choice of several good ones up there.

"The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation." Henry David Thoreau
His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"
Jesus answered, "Neither he nor his parents sinned; it is so that the works of God might be made visible through him. "
John 9:2-3
Mahatma Ghandi, though a devout Hindu, was widely known to admire Jesus; Ghandi often quoted from the Sermon on the Mount, in fact. Once when the missionary E. Stanley Jones met with Ghandi he asked him, "Mr. Ghandi, though you quote the words of Christ often, why is that you appear to so adamantly reject becoming his follower?"
Ghandi replied, "Oh, I don't reject your Christ. I love your Christ. It's just that so many of you Christians are so unlike your Christ."
