before all the sad, depressing "Under the Bridge" music, the Red Hot Chili Peppers were funk. this song borders on creepy, but the music is bad azz.

yep. the RHCP's first three albums (RHCP, Freaky Styley, Uplift Mofo Party Plan) were pretty much all funk. George Clinton produced Freaky Styley. unfortunately, with the death of Hillel Slovak, the bands guitarist, the band moved off in a different direction. don't get me wrong, i like some of their latter music. the first three albums though, are why i fell in love with the RHCP in mid to late 80's. back when i was a skate rat, and the Chili Peppers were funky, raunchy, and fun. here's a little taste of the George Clinton produced album, Freaky Styley.
