Back in Calgary we have a large community of Polish expats and you can breathe the nostalgia among them. One of them, a friend of mine for a while, Hendrik, introduced me to the Czerwony Gitary, a group of traditional Polish music with some lovely ballads.
Title: Uciekaj, moje serce (Run Away, My Heart).
Performer: Czerwone Gitary (The Red Guitars).
Country: Poland.
Genre: Ballad.
Even the romantic songs come across as nostalgic.

A Finnish military song from that same era and from the other side of the front. We too had Soviets on our gates after Stalin decided to attack us after he had divided Europe with Hitler. We were sold to Stalin but we fought back.

I'm so happy this was published recently in Youtube. I was almost 6 years when this was published.
This was published in 1969. The singer was Georg Ots, an Estonian opera singer.
Georg Ots - Muuttuvat laulut - Changing songs
language fin finnish text Tuula Valkama music Rauno Lehtinen year 1969 viewed 36 times
Muuttuvat laulut vuosien mennen - The songs will change after years Aika pois paljonkin vie - The time erases much Muuttuuko ihminen ja mihin suuntaan - Does the human change and to what direction Voi viedä huomispäivän tie - The way of tomorrow can erase much On kenties vaikeaa kun myrskyt pauhaa - It is probably difficult with thunderous storm jos etsii päivää kirkkaampaa - if you seek a day clearer than today
Huomisen laulun nyt soinnut luokaa - Let us create the chords of tomorrow songs today Toistanne ymmärtäkää - Try to understand each other On täällä jokainen vain tämän kerran - Everyone is here only this only time Sä siksi etsi ystävää - Therefore seek a friend Siis katso huomiseen se uusi onhan - and look at tomorrow that is new though Se tuokoon kaiken lauluineen - Let that bring everything with its songs
Onko niin on paras eessäpäin - Is it so that the best is ahead Toivon näin mä mielessäin - I wish that in my mind Vai onko niin tie ei vie huomiseen - Or is it so that the way does not lead to tomorrow Kaikki jää vain ennalleen - Everything will remain the same
Muuttuvat laulut vuosien mennen - The songs will change after years Aika pois paljonkin vie - The time will erase much Muuttuuko ihminen ja mihin suuntaan - Does the human change and to what direction Voi viedä huomispäivän tie - The way of tomorrow will erase much Jos luottaa uskaltaa niin myöskin voittaa - If you have the courage to trust you can also win Ja löytää uuden ihmisen - And find a new human

Sillä on rinnoilla riemunviitta Ja hauskanhuntu hartioilla. Sillä on rinnoilla riemunviitta Ja hauskanhuntu hartioilla.
Ottakaatte ilo irti elämästä Ja täyttäkäätte ikävyyden lovi. Ottakaatte ilo irti elämästä Ja täyttäkäätte ikävyyden lovi. Myöhäistä on silloin, kun tuonen tuvill' tullaan Ja hiljainen on mullan musta povi. Myöhäistä on silloin, kun tuonen tuvill' tullaan Ja hiljainen on mullan musta povi.
Singing has been the joy of my evenings, A joy as blissful as my dreamy nights. Singing has been the joy of my evenings, A joy as bissful as my dreamy nights. Singing has been the pleasure of my days And singing has been my task. Singing has been the pleasure of my days And singing has been my task.
Singing my life sways young Like the summer hay in the meadows. Singing my life sways young Like the summer hay in the meadows. It has a robe of euphoria on the bosom and a merry veil on shoulders It has a robe of euphoria on the bosom and a merry veil on shoulders
Let's go to town of life and fill the dent of sadness. Let's go to town of life and fill the dent of sadness. It is too late when we arrive to the doors of death And quiet is the bosom of the black mold It is too late when we arrive to the doors of death And quiet is the bosom of the black mold.

This Brazilian samba has been made famous all over the world by other bands in jazz, orchestral, rock, hip hop, ballad and even folk versions.
This is the original one, by Jorge Ben Jor. Mas que nada ("More than anything else").
More than anything That is in my mind I want to have a good time Because the samba is hot What I want is to dance samba This samba That is a mix of maracatu* and the samba of the preto velho** Samba for Black folks
More than anything else This samba is cool You won't like it When it ends
---
* "Maracatu" is the dance of the coronation of the Reis do Congo, the leaders of the Brazilian slaves.
** "Preto velhos" were the wise old men who helped their people survive after they were brought to Brazil as slaves. They also preserved the old African songs.

From the movie Rome Adventure (1962), the main song Al di la ("Beyond"). The song is in Italian with subtitles in Portuguese.
She is Suzanne Pleshette. He is Troy Donahue. The singer is Emilio Pericoli.
I don't believe is possible for me to say these words... Beyond the most precious possession, there you are Beyond the most ambitious dream, there you are Beyond the most beautiful things, Beyond the stars, There you are, beyond There you are, for me For me, only for me.
Beyond the deepest sea, there you are Beyond the end of the world, there you are Beyond the infinite turn, Beyond life, There you are, beyond There you are, for me.
