My favorite love song writer in recent history is David Gray. I have always leaned toward the folk/light rock sound and his words are masterfully strung together. Just about every song this guy writes involves love.
"The One I Love" is fantastic and right now I love the song's imagery better then his more popular song called Babylon. The story line for, "The One I love" describes a soldier dying in some jungle and his last thoughts towards the one he loves. If you actually listen to this take a look at the lyrics too.

Ok, I think this is the most beautiful song ever written and here it is sung by the most amazing voice ever. I saw her in person on her early rockabilly tour.
