yes I agree with Natalie, but there are all kinds of post here on the private section about surgeons, just run a search, but it is something that takes a lot of investigation and descion making

Another thing to consider, that might be overlooked, is changing your birth certificate after surgery. The state where I was born requires you to be operated on by a "surgeon licensed to practice in the United States." So that limited my choices.

Hm... I don't suppose someone could get a revision labiaplasty in the US and qualify for that? Or maybe just a little poke with a needle, if everything already looks good? cool

I hope I don't wind up in a state with such a requirement and decide on Thailand surgery... I'll be lifting my skirt at the DMV!

Congratulations! Thailand is a good place to get SRS. I've only ever heard of one bad experience over there. Dr. Suporn has a website start from there. Good luck.

I object to anyone directing Suzie to any specific surgeon as a starting place because that always generates arguments. We (Thai jobs or TJ's) each had one single experience with one of the more than 165 Thai surgeons who do srs and marketing for our own surgeon should not be our support role IMHO.

Suzie you might want to browse the forum Members in Hospital for plenty of insight.

I disagree, Deena.

I especially want to hear from girls who say "OMFG my surgeon just cut off my penis and duct-taped a Fleshlight to my pubic area!" and other such bad experiences, but I'm also interested to hear, "Hey, I had SRS with Dr. *, and it went great. Everything works: she Xed, Yed, and Zed, and I'm really happy with my A and B. The C is a little disappointing, but we'll see what I think when the healing has gone forward a bit."

It's a sort of marketing, sure, but that doesn't automatically make it a bad thing. ...though it would be disturbing to find that there are shills in trans forums talking up particular docs and getting paid for it. Probably happens, though. I'm sure Marci, at least, would agree... she seems to have an appropriately jaded view of humankind.

But seriously, I'm not happy with just a surgeon's stats and diplomas on the wall. Pictures, like those from Anne's site, are very helpful, and first-hand accounts from girls who have gone under the knife are even better, in my estimation.

Deena didn't say not to post positive information about your particular surgeon. What she said was not to post links to a particular surgeon as the starting place to learn about the options.

It has nothing to do with propaganda, much to do with biases. Otherwise, Deena's suggestion to search for the actual experiences in the "Members in Hospital" area is spot on.

Yeah, I agree with that. I noticed that after I posted... I do that a lot.

The problem with looking for stories of "bad experiences" is that most people don't wish to re-hash their bad experiences over and over again. I for one feel that way.

Most everyone here is familiar with my ordeal in Bangkok (see "escape from Bangkok" thread). But I don't put all the blame on my surgeon for what happened to me. Much of it had to do with my body getting infected, which I may have already had when I got there for all we know. All I can say is that perhaps the outcome would have been different had I been in the Pryviate <sp> hospital instead of my surgeon's clinic. But we will never know for sure.

I agree with the suggestion that the OP search around and create a short list of surgeons that she feels right with. Then she can gather data on each individual surgeon by asking questions or researching surgery results.

I for one will not post a "gripe" about my surgeon, nor will I recommend him to others.
