The attorney for hate crime murderer Brandon McInerney is now at least partly blaming the school (and, implicitly, the victim) in the hate crime murder of 15-year-old Lawrence "Larry" King at E.O. Green Junior High School in Oxnard. Here is the LA Times story: School blamed in killing of gay student.

I agree... To kill a human being because he flirted is insane!!!

Two quick notes:
a) Thanks goodness there are no comments under the story.
b) At 15 one should have enough acumen to realize most boys around your age are an inch away from committing a murder.
Not excusing the murderer at all. But flirting with a boy you don't know well is extremely dangerous.
I'm afraid the good attitude of the teachers gave King a false sense of security. He forgot that the world is not a nice place and people tend to be full of hate.

That is horrible. You are right Marcella, the world is a dangerous place sometimes. I just want the kid to be punished severely for this. I think an example needs to be set here. Society can't keep using "homophobia" as an excuse for committing a violent crime.

Absolutely pathetic. The kid knew what he was doing and knew what the result would be. Putting the blame on someone else is, unfortunately, the way of things and attorneys have been the worst examples of this. Is it any wonder we have such screwed up political and legal systems when the great majority of our legislatures are made up of attorneys.

It is the Defense responsibility to do everything possible to make sure the jury sees their client, in this case, had been sexually harrashed - and it caused panic or gay rage or whatever reasons for the young man to do such an act!!!
So where did the young man get the gun?
There is no possible defense for that question... Because it takes time and planning to aquire a weapon!!! Thus, there was enough cool down period for the assailant - unless he has a serious mental disorder (homophobic, religion, delusional) or friend pushed him to far...
The defense has no case to prove that it was not cold blooded murder...
