Facts are they were transgendred by the fact of being killed in obviously chosen role of presentation as a woman. Fact a teenager alone in a all to common place of big cities an Economic segregated area. An murdered because of those factors.

I'm sure if the media interviewed my parents and most other family, they would still refer to me by male pronouns even today, 12 years post srs.

I have a friend who was a pre-op sex worker and advertised as a "shemale" in the paper. One of her customers still freaked out. Some people are just stupid. Some are stupid and violent.

I think it unlikely that Ebony was holding herself out to be a GG. "Shemale" sex workers make a lot more money. And why take such a risk?

So my vote is that the story belongs here. This type of violence is directed at all of us. And I expect most here agree. Do we need a poll over something so obvious?

Fact: many, perhaps even most TS women think all other TS women are men in drag. Sad, but true. The most polite ones will only confide in you such belief in private. The most vociferous ones will say it as loud as possible.

Fact: many TS women have been through hell and back, so they have become very tough folks. No matter if they chose the road of "pretend malehood" and acted like thugs, or if they had to survive being "obviously queer": you don't get out of that "normal," like it or not.

Fact: a sign of PTSD is not caring about people. Why? Because after getting kicked enough times and seeing others kicked too, you have to stop caring. For the sake of your own survival, you cannot care about every little horror befalling you or other people.

The big problem, though, is that after surviving enough BS you get used to surviving. And that influences the way people you meet (even after transition) treat you. It's a vicious circle. And many of us have problems breaking it.

Actually, it doesn't make any difference what gender any of us think she was, or even what she considers herself to be.

What matters is how she was perceived at the time, a factor that none of us have any control over. Regardless of how anyone chooses to classify her, she was subjected to police brutality fueled by transphobic bigotry. That is the real gist of the issue.

LSh, there are two victims under discussion. One is Duanna Johnson, who was beaten by the cops. The other is Emma, who was found naked and murdered by gunshot on a lawn next to a day care. Both alleged prostitues in Memphis. It is Emma who was accused of being a gay man, not Duanna.
