No, the link that Amelie post above is a year old. Christine's last column was about two and a half months ago. It's conjecture to say her leave is because of surgery. It could be for an assignment (perhaps groundwork for the 2008 Olympics?), a family emergency or something else. Her email address is still valid, so until any of us hears anything not a rumor, it could be anything.

I meant that it has been a year since she went full time. So it COULD be SRS. Conjecture is fun!

I went back to work like 2 weeks after surgery. Did ok medically, however about a month later I basically hit 'my period' with hormone changes as I'd gone back on estrogen, and became a raging bitch.

It seems likely that she may have been spending time with/caring for her mother prior to her death.

That was such a bull$hit article!! I hope she is doing well and writing about what she loves. BTW, I think she's quite an attractive woman and I don't see any masculine cues in her appearance. Just my two cents.

I met Christine a couple of times both before and after her coming out. She is quite attractive and very nice but suffers the same problems many of us do as she is tall (6ft or so) and has fairly broad shoulders. I hope she is doing ok.

The editor of Sports, Randy Harvey, says Christine still works here, yes -- and that they have plans for her to resume writing more frequently in the near future.
Not sure why her writings haven't appeared lately but it sounds as if her byline will be back soon.
