Thank you Heli. I know a great instrumental version of L'Oiseau et l'enfant by Paul Mauriat. It's not online (yet!) but there is his version of La Peregrinación, you may enjoy it.

Sorry Marcella I prefer the original "La Peregrinación" sung in Spanish. Something in that song, maybe melancholy of the Andes speaks to my deep soul.

Turned into French it sounds like Swedish meatballs avec perfume (No offense to French music)

Oh no, it's instrumental. I like orchestral versions of popular music, and even symphonic ones (gosh even Alanis Morissette can be turned into a decent orchestral suite!).

But I also love the original, of course. The song itself is part of the "Misa Criolla" (a 'criollo' is a full-blooded Spaniard born in Latin America, misa means mass) by Argentinian composer Ariel Ramírez.

However, he drew inspiration mostly from Andean folk music, and his youth mentor was the great Atahualpa Yupanqui (Quechua name meaning "virile accountant" by the way).
