hi!
i registered yesterday so i suppose i'm a new memeber. i live in Southern Finland up in Northeurope. TS since a little girl but of different reasons i just stated as an old hag my bodys correction into what i feel between my ears.
in Finland we have a program called "The Prosess" which is free and includes 6 months of psychological tests which will (hopefully) give official papers of womanhood. then one year HRT and RLT with all treatments (voicetraining, medical tests, hormones, Adams apple grinding down etc...)then you're allowed to change your id to a womans id and SRS will follow, also for free.
i am in the beginning of the psychological tests, so it's a long journey still to travel. i live fulltime as a woman since 3 years and have come out to everyone i know, including my collegues at work.
a wonderful life!
i got (inofficially) estrogens and antiandrogens and been on them now over 5 months. nice development of the body and mind :-)
officially i will get receipes for hormones around next march...
that's the story. sorry if it is a little long..but maybe some are interested in how these things are done here in the cold and (wintertime) dark North. everything is regulated by laws which can be good and bad....
all the best and good luck to all of you in the same boat as me!
cheers, heart
Mia

Best of luck, Mia. Nice to hear that at least your goverment understands the issues. I'm saving every penny for a journey that should be funded in a country with universal medical care.

Hi Mia... thanks for sharing with us.

Just a few years ago I recall a t-girl from Finland on another board complaining bitterly about backwards and prejudiced Finnish society was. How wonderful to hear your good news! If this is possible in Finland then we have to believe the U.S. and the rest of the world can and will come around -- eventually.

the laws are from -90ies. before that it was very hard to get anything done and suicide was quite common. yes i agree... it should NOT cost an arm and leg (and maybe more)
to get the body corrected.

she was and is probably still right. Finland var very recently an agrar republic and the people still are thinking in an oldfashioned way. the new thinking and acceptance you will find only in the capital area where i live. in a small town and village where everyone knows each other people is very prejudiced and backwards as she wrote. i am lucky i guess living in an area with some understanding ...but it's getting better every year ..so lets hope society will grow mature also in respect of this matter

Hi! Welcome. I really like some of Finland's film directors--especially Aramaki.
