Oh go buy a skirt and get over it. I can fit an American size skirt that is at least 2 sizes smaller than they were labeled just a couple of decades ago. poke

USA clothes come in vanity sizing most of the time. If you want a real hit to your vanity go and buy vintage. A size 12 from the 60s is like a size 8 now.

No, Jenny. The band doesn't refer to the girth under the boobs but to the girth at the boobs level. It's a common mistake, so common that the bra's main strap is now called the "band" too.

If they label them my skirts and pants any smaller, they're going to have to start using imaginary or negative numbers poke

Mahatma Ghandi, though a devout Hindu, was widely known to admire Jesus; Ghandi often quoted from the Sermon on the Mount, in fact. Once when the missionary E. Ghandi replied, "Oh, I don't reject your Christ. I love your Christ. It's just that so many of you Christians are so unlike your Christ."

Well if that was true then there would be no cup sizes.

Everyone would just measure their boobs and buy a 42.

Unless they were less endowed they would have to get a 32.

Nah, the band is the rib cage at the boobs height without the boobs. But since you cannot take the boobs out to measure, you measure below and _hope_ that by adding 4" you make up the difference. Which is not always the case. It can be just the same as it is below the boobs, or one inch more, or two inches, or four. But it's never less.

Ah f'getaboutit.

So THAT'S it. I know a dozen cisgendered women that have no idea how band sizes are figured. They all do the "measure blow and add 4 or 6" thing but they all claim it has never once worked for them, and it surely doesn't work for me. I'm 35" below my boobs and 36" - 38" bras work the best for me; 40" or 42" (by the measure below, round up to the even number and add 4 or 6 method) - and I've tried - are FAR too big.

I think 5'0" is awesome! I would trade you 5'9" in a heartbeat.
