I think I am going to have to give up red meat. For some reason can no longer stand the smell of cooking beef. Most unpleasant.

I don't know if this is that sense of smell is better, or my mind is telling me that beef is bad for me. I know since I have been on HRT, I have been experiencing all kinds of little changes.

I know this may sound like a petty subject. But I used to love beef.

Any one else, experience similiar things.

Nothing with meat, but I did develop a problem with tea.

yea your sense of smell does get much better on HRT, and I'm trying to kick red meat as well. I thinking about going vegan for health reasons.

The only things that have changed significantly for me so far has been a reduced tolerance to alcohol, and my chocolate cravings have increased.Otherwise, everything else is pretty much the same as it was pre-hrt.

I stopped red meat when I was about 12. The smell and the sight of it is revolting. HRT has not made a difference to me in this regard.

I allow myself to indulge in red meat only once a month, so for the past 2 weeks I've been strongly craving a huge cheeseburger, rib eye, filet, carne asada, or whatever. Little lambs are also hella tasty. Yum. Oh great - now I'm getting hungry...

Maybe HRT has stimulated some maternal need to feed liberally and store fat. whistle

Having been vegan for three years and some (not sure about the specific dates) I'm not too worried if this make me a nutter. After all, I'm already a tranny with PTSD, GID, and aphabet soup to boot.

But fwiw - my sense of smell has become stronger - which sucks in one way, cos' it was already extreme to begin with - though it does have the plus that some guys now smell fantastic rather than merely interesting.

ugg...red meat. I was like a lot of people and my parents tried to rasie me on red meat but even as a kid it was hard for me to stomach the sight of the blood ozing out of it...well it would turn my stomach in an instant.

While I was in the Navy there were episodes that turned my stomach so even the sight of blood…just ick.

Now days I will go a long time between eating meat. Last week I went to a nice place for a steak and only managed to eat a little bit of it when (ick) blood started ozing out of it. That’s all it takes.

The sight of blood doesn't bother me. But I don't like to eat it.

My partner loves beef, so I will cook it for her. But I have got her to eat turkey burgers, I use alot of spices;garlic, thyme, rosemary, diced onions, worchestershire sauce,or soy sauce. She also, likes to use turkey burger in taco's. Also, good in spaghetti sauce. An we both like bbq pork ribs.

Well, I just had some delicious carne asada - the first beef in over a month because of health and lack of money - and now I feel much better! Blood always tastes so good.

Now, it's back to four weeks of veggie burgers, beans and rice, and an occasional chicken. laugh

My doctor suggested if I was going to eat beef, to make sure it is grass fed. A leaner meat, and I was surpised that the meat is tender. However, I did prefer "Marbling"( laced with fat) in my prime rib.

The more marbling/fat the better for me.I tried some lean hamburger a few months ago and it was disgusting,no flavor at all,and it was like eating a peice of cardboard even though I didn't overcook it.And that was with some garlic/onions and cheese to top it off.The only fake burgers that I've had that are pretty good are some veggie burgers that have beans/rice/corn mixed into them.I don't remember the brand name(chrystal farm maybe?)at this moment, but they're good.

Ya know, I lived in a very rural area for a couple years and when I would drive to town I often saw the cows with their babies out standing in the fields and thought, "How wonderful is that? These mom's must love their children on some level or another", and you know what? I gave up eating beef for that two years because it seemed so wrong to me then.

Well that was over a decade ago, I have lost my empathy and it pains me.

Why must they taste so good? Not fair, not fair at all.

My ancestry is Swiss, German and Italian, all nationalities that have red meat in their cuisines - which I grew up eating and still eat. Still, for health and environmental reasons I try to limit my intake to a maximum of one serving per week. I also try to be very conscious of where all my meat, including the chickens, rabbits and hogs, as well as my vegetables, come from. I feel fortunate in that I have relationships with a number of local farmers who can keep me supplied with meat and produce that I am confident was raised with a minimum of "inhumane" treatment and is of good quality.

They are!

And just because I hate when my hundreds of literary, scientific, philosophical and historical references (about a dozen per post) go unacknowledged, Gertrude Stein and Alice Toklas are one of the most famous lesbian couples in the history of literature.

Considering recent research indicates that, beyond ability to learn from other's experiences, good memory for words, scents and images, strong emotional attachments and capacity to complete tasks like opening doors or activating a feed chute, cows are also quite given to Sapphic sex, I thought it was relevant.

So much looking for non-human intelligence in the stars and we're surrounded by it. Sigh.
