Well, fine - for a more accurate personal definition - 'for me strict vegetarian is essentially the same thing as vegan in terms of my dietary intake - I tell regular folks in restaurants and suchlike that i'm vegan, This is due to my not eating animal products - and yes I'm aware of where they come from.

OTOH I try to avoid discussing being vegan outside of food related issues as I find that many vegans think of it as something of a competition and will take me to task for buying things that use animal based glue in the packaging (most wine bottles), will not wear wool, and basically decry anything that comes from an animal source (honey, sized papers, paint brushes, etc) - I find that level of 'activism' tiresome - some of them even eschew supplements as they consider that supplements are unnatural.

If I ate meat, fish, eggs, and McDonalds I prolly wouldn't have to get B12 injections.

Very true. Most vegans seem to have a sizeable object inserted in an uncomfortable location. ^_^

I didn't mean to insult you or anything. Just clarifying a couple of terms which seemed to be confused.

I'm not insulted at all, it's just a topic I tend to either avoid or gloss over as quickly as possible - In truth I'm prolly guilty of giving too short an answer to any question like that, it's not uncommon to catch it in both sides of the neck if you say you're vegan - from carnivores and herbivores laugh

Anything that has a neocortex or a nidopallium is out of bounds for me.

That means, basically, mammals and birds. They have higher thinking processes, and the difference between them and us is one of degree, not of quality.

I just cannot eat something that loves its parents and children, feels suffering, carries a grudge and has pangs of anxiety.

I. Just. Can't.

Like eating a sibling.
