I give up...how do you post an image in the gallery?

Up at the top of your screen click on the tab for gallery. Once there click on the new image tab. Once there go to the bottom and click on image manager (after typing whatever you want in the way of a post description). In the image manager click on browse and navigate to the picture you want to upload from your computer then click add. It may take a bit of time to do its upload depending on your internet connection. Once it has completed then click the "done adding files" button. Then back in the gallery post click on submit. There will be a delay for it to show up in the images panel on the front page but the post itself will show up in the active topics listing. I think the software is set to give the admins the opportunity to nix an image before it appears on the front page but I'm not certain about that.

I just get a big red X

Uhh, where do you get this X and when?

when I post it, it shows the frame with caption and then it has an X in the upper right corner.

Try with a JPG or GIF format file, and keep it to about 400 x 400 pixels.

Sometimes, though, there have been issues with a particular account and the ability to use the Gallery. If you changed your handle little after the change of server, the Gallery may fail to recognize you as a bona fide supporting user.
