I have been coming here since 2003 under various pseudonyms. Yeah, the place has died in the last year. That is the way things are on the internet I suppose. Everywhere has its heyday. Feels like home to me, just one that half burnt down and since the owner moved to another town and job, will never be rebuilt. I drive past, look through the cobwebbed windows and remember the good times I had, the growing up I did, the people I met. Just ghosts, mice, rats, various semi wild cats live here now, and of course the odd melancholy cow that wanders in out of the incessant PNW rain.

It has this spooky quality, I check into the radioactive section looking for an interesting discussion that will get me thinking, but all I find is " all about me" posts and personal squabbles pretentiously masquerading as something else, they pretty muck killed the forum off in the first place..

So does Calpernia or Andrea not post here anymore and is the forum totally neglected or something?

There's a thin line between absolute tolerance and total indifference.

I always loved that here mods don't try to use the place to advance their own agendas or opinions. They do their thing, which is kept to a minimum, and you have to be a true pest to get banned. Or have an English sense of humour. laugh

On the other hand, I think most of the "regulars" have moved on. When you're feeling good with yourself, what's the point of getting involved in fiery online debates?

Bovine serenity. It's fallen over the whole place. We walk around, stare at the empty walls from time to time, sigh, feel a tender tremor in our hearts and walk on.

Happy to know that anyone who drops by can remember this ol' house, that there is still a few ears listening in case of crisis, and that (otherwise) we're at peace.

Ya know...there is always the option of doing something about it if it"s that distressing to you, instead of dropping by and leaving some not so flattering comments about a service that"s being provided for free, and that has invariably helped out thousands of transitioners in their time of need when they had no other place to turn to for support, and that probably includes you.

So...Pitch in,offer some ideas, help some people get through a tough phase of their life...that"s what this place was intended for,not a sounding board for those who just wanna come here and complain about something, and then make no effort to correct what they see as a problem(for themselves at least,YMMV). smile

Callie and Andrea are busy bees, so they don't post here much.
You still have us mods, though smile

I took a hiatus from June of 2008 until November 2009, Natalie. My mundane, non-online life was getting kinda big.

That hiatus is also explained by the fact that I started to live my transsexuality. My showgirl career took off, and I started doing volunteer work with youths at risk for sexual/ gender reasons. Everything I was doing online I started doing in my mundane life (which, although the colors are more drab than GenderLife, the lighting is better).

Then, about three months back, I started to miss y'all, and dropped back in.

I try to respond to threads when I feel I have something relevant to share. I was tempted to start a thread, but I'm feeling a bit shy about doing so now. Am I afraid of a debate that it might turn into? Hmm. I'll have to ponder on that a bit.

Well, from my experience...this is a nice but tough crowd, which is fine with me.I'd rather be around people that aren't afraid to express their opinion, rather than a bunch of people that go around agreeing with everything that's said, and being overly polite to the point of where it becomes nauseating and fake, with everyone lying to each other in order to not hurt anyones feelings.

I like keeping things real and as honest as possible without being rude or disrespectful, but someone who comes from a sheltered background may have a tough time here if they"re not used to being told the truth or being disagreed with...IMO,YMMV of course. smile

I never said it was a problem, just quiet. gawd, It took me year of loitering, intently reading the latest few responses to some eye opening discussion just to make my first post. Other than M, the people who made me make that first post are all gone. Moved on. No one has replaced them, no one can, that is my issue.

I came because I needed a big sister, I found a few, also a few predators. Such is life.

The latter remaining is the reason I don't post or generally find anything worth saying.

Dunno, life gets to the point that all this kinda stuff doesn't matter so much. hard to get the enthusiasm to type into the keyboard about it. My bad.

The thread is about where have all the Genderlifers gone. Both not far at all and one hell of a long way is my answer.
