I was thinking about going back to school and start my transition there as I heard it could be somewhat easier.

Does anyone know if the medical field is a lot more tolerant with transgenders? Even if you go FT girl in the medical field? Anyone have any experience with this?

I was thinking maybe like an RN or a Radio something something :P

Also, if anyone transitioned as a nurse I know there must some roadblocks...like your state cert exams? Must be hard taking the exams as Rob but being a nurse as Kareal.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Any medical girls out there?

One of the girls in the group I get together with is a nurse, and from what I understand, she's like a star in one of the biggest hospitals in my city; everybody knows her and loves her. smile

Hmm, I don't know about the email thing 'cause I don't even have her email addy. But yes, everyone knows her 'cause she's trans and doesn't keep it a secret. She always tells us stories about how she can't even walk down a hospital wing without someone calling out her name, and she usually has to just say, "Hi" to them 'cause she doesn't know there name(s), but EVERYBODY knows hers.

BTW- After my SRS, I'm finishing school for nursing, too! laugh

That's what it's like here in my work place.
I feel like a goddamn celebrity.
However, it gets old fast. I'm probably not gonna last another year before I get sick of being "that lovely tranny".

I couldn't wait to graduate from college for the same reason, having done the thing during school years. It did indeed get very old very fast.

Being a token is like getting kicked upwards: you get the attention, people look up to you. But no one sees you as an equal.

Not good. Not good at all.

My plan is to transition in school, and go into psychology. My plans, should they fall through, is to start HRT during my last year at community college, start going FT sometime during my several years at college working towards a doctorate, and then SRS as a graduation gift to myself.

It is nice though hearing of acceptance in the medical field.
