I think Steph still lurks. Sachi posted a little while back.

Melissa asked to be permanently banned and was. (I think I had something to do with it.)

Sachi was a victim of a flame war. I think she still lurks here sometimes.

Courtney is living her life. She’s busy with work and family as far as I know. (I still haven’t ‘met’ her and she lives somewhere around here.) She does show up from time to time. She was here the other day.

Daniielle, another victim of a flame war. I think she was banned.

Marcella might have ticked off another alpha-bit soup group and could be enjoying the sunny beaches of a carabbian island. But who knows for sure, she can clam up tighter than a….well a clam.

Maybe if they archived the various ‘handles’ and or listed the last post date and if they were banned it would give us some closure when we start looking for someone.

They all come back, even if it is as alter egos. Just when you think you won't ever see them again, *blink* and they appear.

Kara, Try using some olive oil from your cooking shelf. Living in New England with it's dry winters, I've found that it works great when Chapstick is too irritating. Oh, and because it's not the greatest taste, it really keeps you from trying to lick your lips which just makes them more chapped.

Being able to only truly speak for my own circumstances, Natalie, I will nevertheless dare to hazard a guess or two as to why the old names no longer appear, then find my fire extinguisher and prepare for flamage.

In my own case, my volume of visits has indeed fallen off lately due to:
- finally getting a life apart from the forum, both relationship- and transition-wise. It is no longer strictly necessary for me to live online.
- tiring of the perpetual misery and intellectual aridity I have encountered far too often. Criminy, girls, talk about something of substance, and most definitely not how terrible your life is. Mine's the pits too, so thanks for reminding me.
- the commitments of work...sadly, the needs of others do not often enough coincide with my own, and I must adhere to the schedule of another.

I'd wager that at least one of these three factors applies to the lion's share of your former cronies, Natalie. Additionally, what appears to have occurred fairly often is that people meet kindred spirits here, and friendships...sometimes more...blossom exteriae forum. With personal e-mail as well as sundry instant communication options like Yahoo Messenger, the telephone, or even *gasp* SneakerNet [1], communication can occur without all of us being aware of it.

Plus, the chances of a nasty, mean-spirited flame wars are less in real 3 than here on Ye Blessd Forume. Real, honest to God shoot-'em-up wars, yes, snide flame wars, not so much.

Or to put it another way, my comrade from the Old Country, the clock ticked in your absence. Life moved on, and so did a chunk of GenderLifers. Even in my two years or so of involvement - more or less two continuous years, no hiatus included - plenty have come and gone. I myself might ask a similar question about such MIA GenderLife stalwarts as Tegan, Sonia, Yelyos, and so forth.

Where have all our GenderLifers gone?

To live lives in the Big Room.[2] Ya can never go home again.

Thanks Nats, you're the second person that's suggested that. I don't have any, so I'm just using my face moisturizer for now. That should help.

Olive oil? Hmmm. It's a bit hard to pack around a bottle.

Buy a small, 5cl glass bottle of any alcoholic tipple, empty the bottle, fill with oil. Is small, keeps the oil inside and while it is fragile in one way, it certainly doesn't break that easily.

oh i do miss some of my old friends from here i must admit
but do understand life moved and we grow distant from our pasts

However i do feel it would be nice if i could talk to a few ot them or that could drop back in here to give back some input and advice for the ones struggling with issues in there transitional Journey
