I had my first laser treatment a little over a month ago and am going this Tuesday for round #2. I am going to talk to my laser doctor about this but wanted to hear what you ladies have to say about it.

I am currently scheduling laser every 5 weeks. It takes two weeks for the evil burnt hairs to finally fall out. This laser gets light hairs but won't get many of the gray ones. And I was thinking. After the hair falls out from the previous laser session I could let the hair grow for a week (would mostly be gray ones and some not hit by the laser) and have an electrologist get those hairs on week 3.

I really don't want to have to wait until my 5th laser session is over before I start electrolysis to deal with the gray hairs. Is this a good or a bad idea? Thoughts?

Thanks for taking the time to read this post and I hope some have advice or comments!

In my experience laser will not get ANY gray hairs. I payed in advance for 18 months of laser treatment from one of the advertisers on this site. After 18 months of increasingly stronger laser treatments ("Surely thistreatment will work"), that ended up blistering my face, I quit. Even though there was a money back guarantee it took me several months arguing with the corporate office, and threats of a suing, before I got my money back. It turned out the owner of the franchise I went to had falsified my records they submitted to corporate to say the treatments had worked.

If you have light hair or grey hair, save your time, money and discomfort and see an electrologist.

Diana, sorry you had so many problems with your laser treatment! All lasers are not created equal. This laser does in fact get the light hairs. I only had a few spots where there were really dark hairs and this laser took out that and the light ones. It didn't get the grays, though and I knew it wouldn't.

I'd love to learn which company you used, and the type of laser used. My bad experience was with an American Laser franchise. They tried every laser combination and intensity available to them, and had zero effect.

Actually it probably was American Laser. There is a whole Web page devoted to angry customers.

They continually insisted that they would get the grays. I finally gave up and went to electrolysis. After a year my face is mostly clear, I have another year at least to to go (at 2.5 hours per week).

I finally got them to quit trying to convince me that the laser would get the gray hairs. and had them do my legs instead.

I get my medical care at the Mazzoni Center in Philadelphia. They purchased a laser a while back and am not sure what kind it is. I will try and remember to find out Tuesday.

Here is a link to an article about their laser purchase but it doesn't give much details.

I do not think it will be a good idea to mix the two types of treatments. You could end with some bad scarring.

I have wrestled with your post for a bit tossing it around in what I have left of a brain. How many of us have gone 1 to 2 times a week for up to 2hrs or more of electrolysis. The only cautionary note is that you stress that your electrologist treat only the "mature" hairs, gray hairs.I don't like to use the gray word to my clients so I call them mature hairs .You risk over treatment that may not be apparent for months if she/he treats any of the dark ones. To be on the safe side of things and to avoid any warranty issues I would consult with your laser tech first.I may see if one of my clients would be interested in trying this approach. Thanks for the question Dana.
