Over the week of focused self realization and from some assistance of wonderful friends here, I made a very hard decision to enroll into Seminary as a known Transgender MtF.
I have found out that the UCC church is very accepting of GLBT and they even have an entire website devoted just to our cause. I have posted who I am in the UCC forums and so far, to my extreme surprise, have had support and praise.
What really impressed me the most is that UCC has released a documentary that has Calpernia in it. The Video is called "Call me Malcolm." It is about a transgender who went into Seminary as as girl but graduated as a boy.
I am very uplifted about this. For those who don't know I use to be a Pastor in a fundamentalist church as a way to tried to hide the real me but I was really called to serve in the church. Now, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and can see I do still have a future in my calling where I can be accepted.
Vexing, I have the impression that Kareal is trying to tell you she intends to keep using the adjective "transgender" (a horrible word if there ever was one, IMO), as a noun. That could be sort of a vexing situation couldn't it? LOL

I think that people speaking of transgendered people might leave out the "people" part on account of most people know what they mean,
Language is constantly evolving. Kareal is just looking for some basic support, can't we be civil enough for that?
I am proud of you, Kareal. You seem to have come to a point where you can follow your calling yet retain your identity as a transgendered person. That takes a certain amount of courage, which a few of the responders probably couldn't do.
I was inspired by the story of a FtM rabbi at the Reform Jewish seminary. He has done a lot for the alphabet soup community, at least the jewish ones. This person sounds similar. You have a chance to do some good.
Some of us are out, some are stealth. To each her own.
The main point was that she didn't have any sense of humor about the terminology subject, despite multiple attempts to inject a little levity into it. I also agree that Vexing's interjection was quite civil.

IMHO Vex is uncivil by nature. We all know that but someone who is not used to her ways may not realize it. Sometimes it is better to smile than attack. I shall pray.....

Well, Mixie you know how it goes. People cry troll when they have no valid point. I think it was Vex who tried to make that point recently in another thread.

Kareal kudos on following your dream. I am delighted to hear the UCC is as it is.. However when dealing with a herd of Cats. like the this community is.. pick the words carefully for ya never know who has cuckleburr in their saddles that day.. Having read this entire thread i think all concerned need to ease back on your pills and shots a lil .. my lord ya all you're arguing with the fence post.. and think your winnin the battle lol ..
Now go get your Big Girl panties and put um on and act like big girls.. other wise no cotton candy for you at the fair ...

Counties fairs may suck, but when I was little the state fair was an off the charts experience every summer. We only did a quick walk through of the animals, but the midway and the huge rock concerts where the highlight of summer vacation.
I love me some STATE fair time ... fried everything for sale .. snickers deepfried yummy ... get this one ... chocolate covered bacon deepfried LOL havent had the nerve yet lol .. Oh and cotton candy 3 foot tall and 2 hours of scrubbin to get the sticky out of the icky's ... and Turkey legs that seemed a bit barbaric lol ..
Kinda rare IMHO a man of the cloth so to speak going into the battle zone of Uganda and taking up the GLBT side at great risk to his own safety ..
SO maybe some give and take on view on religions would be a good thing.. cause they are all not the same thank god .. even if some groups want to make them all one ..

Girls, please try to make extra efforts to move discussions along more helpful and positive paths. It can be done... even the meanest sentiment can be deflected or redirected if one really tries to aim toward an enlightened community. Snipping and snapping at any displayed weakness or error makes me think more of a school of sharks or a pack of hyenas eating their weaker members than the etherial host of brilliant minds and souls we have here.

Now that's what I call imagery! The membership here does seem to go after a tasty snack on occasion. It is kind of amazing how that can be done with pure mental energy.
