everyone is trying to lose weight, and is losing it. My problem is I keep finding it. You don't think it was that bag of chips last night?

If you deny yourself everything that is pleasurable in life, you can live very long indeed.

To the external observer it will be about 100 years. To you, it will seem a millennium.

I began this journey at 276 pounds. Not a pretty sight. I dropped t down to 205 (on a 6'1" frame) in 7 months. I then got on HRT and gained 30 pounds. I'm down again.
I basically cut out the chips, bread, sugar and late night snacks over 200 calories. I drank plenty of water. I ate 100 calories an hour while having a decent meal at lunch time. My calorie intake was 2700 daily. Sometimes it was 3000 but I bike a lot (average of 4 miles a day).

Walk as much as you can. Drink plenty of water.

Starting to lose the weight. Using guide lines, of the metabolic diet concepts. Eating more protein, less carbs. My craving for sweets, have all but disappeared. I have more energy, and feel better.

I've managed to get about 10-15 pounds off in the past month. A bit more moderation in portion sizes, and trying to shift more calories to earlier in the day. I think this lets me burn them right back off instead of marinating in them all night. Not sure, not a dietician. Oh, and stress has pretty much put paid to large portions of my appetite. wink

Congrats! Gaining 10 is much easier than losing them. smile

PS: Well, for most women over 30 I know, anyway.

Thanks Marcella! smile It sure is.

Oh, and Sinful.Moon's advice on water is spot on, too. It's a good thing to do anyway, but it helps flush things out, as well as providing a good replacement for things like soda. I also find it easier to get through the day if I have something to do with my mouth (keep your mind where it is, this gutter is crowded), and drinking water beats soda, smoking, or snacking.

Lol! You caught that quickly!

Sinful Moon = me. Name change.
Yes, you need to be occupied during the day as well. idle time makes for boring mouth. You'll eat although you're not really hungry.
People say things about exercise bikes. I you can afford one, get one. They really help. I ride my bike (outside bike) daily. I have noticed a dramatical change in my body structure. You don't have to pedal fast. Just something easy. read a book or set it in front of the television.

Protien is a help. cut back on meat/pork as well. My religious beliefs forbid pork. I don't eat me (by choice although sometimes I would love to sink my teeth into a nice steak). Mcdonalds/Burger king etc are killers! the smallest sandwich is 250 cals.

BTW. I'm 46 although I may not look it. Dieting, exercise and trying not to grow up have kept me from rotting away so quick. Having a 21 year old daughter who tells me she needs a "Road Dog" to hang with helps.

I have chosen to grow old 'ungracefully.'

Oh! Eating a late night snack won't hurt. I usually eat a 200-300 snack (Twizzlers or Gummi bears) if I get a sweet tooth. I try to keep it there.
don't get discourage. The journey losing weight isn't easy and it will take time. Do a little at a time so you don't crash. cut one thing out and then another.
